Our Small Claims Mediation scheme is for claims with a maximum value of £10,000, co-incident with the small claims court limit.

• BINDING Both mediation settlement and judgment are binding. If breached, separate action may need to be taken in court to enforce. However, in the case of mediation this is less likely to be needed as a) there has been agreement and b) it is possible to make settlement itself conditional upon receipt of cleared funds.
• COST EFFECTIVE Court fees in small claims small claims cases vary depending on the value of a particular claim and are set on a sliding scale. They will certainly cost more than mediation .
• If you have a claim for the value of value of £3000. the court fee to issue will be £205 ( 2018)
• or £185 if using Money Claims Online system)
• The hearing fee is £355
• A total of £560 just to get it into court
• This does not include any lawyers fees……..and you may not win.

Conditions of our online mediation service

Fees must be paid no later than 7 working days before the mediation.

if the mediation date is changed or cancelled at less than 7 working days notice the fee is retained in full and not returned. if a date is changed before 7 working days a non refundable £25 administration fee will be charged.

When the agreement to mediate is signed. The participants must confirm they are able to operate the relevant online software and they are able to transmit documentation to all the parties online.They must also confirm they will mediate in a quiet and confidential room

Time limits are fixed . This will include allowing the time necessary for drawing up any agreement.

The fees charged include pre-reading of no more than five, A4 documents. All documents must be sent to the mediator and other participants no later than 5 working days before the mediation
